About
The aim of this website is to provide a useful community resource of benefit to both hosts (farms, smallholdings, etc who take voluntary workers) and WWOOFers / other volunteers.
For hosts:
By having a webpage on this site you can publicise your work
opportunities to volunteers wishing to visit the Central Portugal region.
You can also contribute to the blog (online diary) with your thoughts/ideas, news/updates, special work placements, etc.
For WWOOFers/volunteers:
Most of the hosts listed here welcome volunteers from other organisations apart from WWOOF, but we would encourage you to take a look at the WWOOF website and consider joining the organisation.
By joining WWOOF you will gain access to their worldwide
database of hosts, support the organic movement, and
take advantage of their special insurance policy.

WWOOFers - we have found that useful items to bring with you include: torch/flashlight, old/work clothes, sunhat, suncream & swimwear in summer, waterproofs in winter, biodegradeable/eco-friendly washing products. We have a limited supply of spare bedding, so if you can manage to bring your own sleeping bag, that is helpful.
Check you have insurance that covers medical care including transportation home, accidents, and loss of property. You should also be covered against you injuring other people or losing or breaking other peoples’ property. Make sure your insurer knows that you will be a volunteer on a farm.
Get yourself a free European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) in case you need medical treatment whilst in Portugal, either as the result of illness or accident.
Many of our volunteers have asked if we’d like them to bring us anything - things that we appreciate (and can’t get here) are english-language books, good-quality soy sauce, bisto gravy powder, yogi tea, ‘dr bronners’ liquid soap and ecover heavy-duty hand cleaner!

Hello, Do you have to be 18 to join Wwoof in Portugal? If you are not 18, what requirements are there?
Thanks,
Mark
